This is an old revision of the document!

Soft spaces are “informal or semiformal, non-statutory spatialities of planning with associations and relations stretching both across formally established boundaries and scalar levels of planning and across previously entrenched sectoral divides”. (Metzger and Schmitt,2012:265–6)

“Soft spaces are a particular type of space, which are the result of a deliberate strategy, constructed by governing actors to represent a geographical area in a particular way that lies outside of the political-administrative boundaries and internal territorial divisions of the nation-state.” (Walsh et al. 2012:5)
